
The versions I've heard by Horowitz, Rubinstein, and Richter play it as written. However, performers like Argerich, Li, and Zimerman rearticulate the Eb. For example, the last measure on the second line of the second page (in the linked score) has a tied Eb going into the first measure on the third line. Throughout the piece, there are notes written with ties between measures, but a lot of performers rearticulate the notes as far as I can tell. I've looked at a lot of the scores on imslp (one's linked below) and there doesn't seem to be any discrepancy in the notation.
